AMSTELVEEN - All KLM customers with a voucher in their pockets can now request a refund. This is the result of a change in the voucher policy by KLM and sister company Air France. Until now, customers who booked their ticket before May 15 have been unable to get a refund, which has been criticized by the company.

“Air France and KLM are further adapting the flight cancellation policies they do due to the COVID-19 situation. Due to the latest developments in this area and the gradual removal of travel restrictions, Air France and KLM are gradually and carefully restoring their networks, ”said KLM in a statement.

“In case of flight cancellations by Air France or KLM, customers can choose between booking a new flight, a voucher or a cash refund regardless of the cancellation date of their flight. Customers who have already received a voucher can still opt for a cash payment of their ticket. ”

KLM reports that given the magnitude of the crisis and the number of cancellations, it takes longer than usual to process the transactions. "Air France and KLM are fully aware that these exceptional circumstances also impact our customers and we thank them for their understanding and patience."

The existing voucher policy will also be maintained; this means that the added value of vouchers remains fifteen percent of the voucher value.
