Flamingo International Airport is now also closed for civil passenger flights originating from any of the following countries: the US, Canada, Colombia and the Dominican Republic. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Water Management of the Netherlands has given the authorization for this decision on the request of the governor Edison Rijna. Flights are allowed to operate empty to take on passengers back to their originating country.

This measure is taken as a follow up on the closure of the airport for all flights originating from Europe countries and is with the aim of minimizing the risk of the COVID-19 virus spreading.
